Truth From War: Chapter 4

Kita entered through the doors and saw him laid out in front of an open door. His kimono was open revealing well-shaped muscles as the newly risen moon shown through and made his features more defined. "You summoned me?" she approached only as close as she dared too and kneeled down.

Lord Sesshomaru was quiet for a long while and the silence was starting to drive Kita insane.

"I remember you," he said tonelessly.

"Excuse me?" Kita questioned not knowing what he was talking about.

"You're the Elder's youngest daughter." He spoke just loud enough to hear.

"Yes..." she responded, wondering how he knew.

"My father had an agreement with your pack before he died and it continued with me before they were destroyed. I was the one your pack had been paying tribute to all these years since his death, so your pack could live in my territory in peace. We met twice when we were young." he continued as he looked out the open door.

"Wait...your Inutaisho's oldest son?" she asked as it began clicking in her mind. The memories rushing back. The once happy young Sesshomaru she had known as a child, flitting through her mind as they ran and played in trees. She never imagined hed be this cold.

"I am," he responded and turns to look at her.

"I guess I wasn't of sound enough mind to realize..." she trailed off.

"I didn't realize it was you either till you had begun to show signs of healing. Whatever happened to you in the attacked masked your scent and it has been many, many years since we came into contact. You smell very familiar to me now." He stood up and walked over to her and her eyes lifted to meet his. They seemed to have softened a bit.

"I'm not sure exactly who had attacked our pack...it was just a horde of demons coming in and looking for shared of the sacred jewel... but... we didn't have any that I knew of..." she voice cracked at that. "My pack was killed in cold blood."

"Loyalty goes a long way with me. You're welcome to stay here till you figure things out and maybe I can help with your revenge against Naraku. I have my own vendetta against him myself." Sesshomaru sat before her. "I was hoping you'd give me some information about who may have attacked, and from what you just said, it seems logical to say it was him"

"I've heard the name before...but we had no reason for him to do such things..." she looks at the ground, her heartbreaking further.

"Walk with me." Sesshomaru held out a hand to help her up something again changing in him. Kita reached up and took it a bit hesitant and stood and let go. Sesshomaru lead her out the large doors and into the garden that was beyond them. "Do you remember this place?" he questions as Kita follow close behind.

"This looks a little familiar. But it was so long ago. We were children. We both know how old we are. I've lived much of my life since then." she said sadly.

Sesshomaru turned to look back at her. "You talk as though we live as long as humans and our memories go with age."

"I guess I don't remember places that I only visited once. The scent is familiar though...or it might just be your scent...I still am surprised I didn't realize it was you..." a very small sad smile comes over her face. "I remember playing together, climbing trees. You were much warmer then."

"Life changes us and I've grown up since then." his tone softer now. "I've had to become twice the Lord my father was to make up for his mistakes and softness.

"I feel you're more soft-hearted than you lead on, my lord," she spoke politely.

"Don't read into it." the softness disappearing again from Sesshomaru's voice.

" Explain the human girl to me then? Maybe you're much more like your father than you like to acknowledge. He always did have a soft spot for humans.", as she finished her sentence, Sesshomaru let out a low snarl and she took a step back. " I didn't mean anything negative by it...I'm sorry. I guess I don't understand then..."

Sesshomaru relaxed a bit. "I did save her and I am doing what I can to protect her. But do not assume I am the weak-hearted demon my father was. While he was strong he had weaknesses I do not and will not possess."

"Caring for someone isn't a weakness you know..." the words are almost inaudible. " Caring can be one of the greatest strengths you have. It helps form trust and trust is so important with alliances and strength...You're not weak because you care."

Sesshomaru let out a huff and walked over to a blooming cherry blossom tree. "If you met my half brother you would understand I think, his heart has gotten him into trouble and I am sad to say I don't enjoy my time with him. We have a common goal, but I would never want what he does. It would hinder me further from what I am trying to do."

"I see... I guess to each their own. Just maybe think about what I said. It might prove to be a greater strength than a weakness. It gives you purpose to do better." she said as she folded her hands together and looked at the ground.

"You and I now have a common goal as well," he added.

"and that is?" Kita questioned her voice distant.

"Kill Naraku."

Truth from War: Chapter One

It had been a long time since the white wolf tribe of the northern mountain had faced the trials of an enemy infiltrating their pack. They had lived in peace for about 50 years when a swarm of demons came in and destroyed all that they loved and cherished. Take every single member except one. Just old enough to take her place in the ranks to protect her kind from enemy attackers and one with skill unlike any other. She advanced quickly and climbed her ranks without anyone questioning who she was. Being a pack's youngest daughter could have made her the target for favoritism among the leaders, but she refused to be babied and treated as an elder’s daughter. She wanted to be treated the same as anyone else. Tonight was the night she was able to prove herself in the lines of battle. The only one to have survived the attack and was now running for her life after she watched her father die in her arms and her mother be slashed to pieces by a demon covered in a baboon pelt of white. Truth From War: Chapter 3

She had fallen asleep upon the two head dragons back once they had started their travels. She still had no idea where they were going or if they even had a destination ahead of them. Rin continued to care for her as they went, making sure her bandages were clean and all else was taken care of. She was now beginning to feel the reality of what has just happened to her and her loneliness was now caving in on her. She had no one else in this world but herself. Her pack was killed and her village was destroyed. If she could locate Koga's tribe they may be able to take her in, but she didn't even know where Koga was. Last she had heard he was traveling the countryside to avenge others who had been killed in a large battle... "Kita? Are you okay?" Rin asked sweetly. The pain on her face must have been extremely apparent. She wasn't good at hiding her emotions anyways just because she was prone to outburst, but outside she though she felt pretty numb.   "I'm as...
